It’s happening, we’re already thick into the holiday season and it happened so fast that I’m still talking about Halloween. This is working in cannabis.
It’s 7 weeks since Federal Legalization and it felt like New Years Eve in the year 2000 when we were preparing for a worldwide tech meltdown as our computers switched from 1999 to 2000. It’s also a similar feeling to the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012 with a belief system bouncing around about the world ending… it’s hard to plan the future when the future is unknown.
This is why we must be present.
This is the only thing that is real and as we navigate this legal cannabis system, what will be happening in a year is different than what is happening today.
So how does someone navigate this cannabis landscape?
Ashleigh Brown of Strainprint Community and Shecann: Legal Medical Cannabis Empowering Canadian Women and I discussed this last week at the Niche event Cannabis in the Community. Our conclusion was knowing and sticking to our core values. These are what keep us grounded and focussed on our end goal.
It’s super easy to get distracted by all the glitter and gold in the cannabis industry; and it’s important to recognize that people achieving success today started their cannabis business building years ago.
This is a marathon not a race.
It’s too early to be competitive, the stigma is real.
Together we smash stigma and together we grow.
We must remember to be and receive support without expectations. We’re all slaying and hustling to normalize cannabis consumption.
So as my yoga Risto Duggan says every morning after our asana practice, “Be kind to everyone out there.”
